Memory Foam Matress
There are so many options available to the consumer
who is shopping for a new bed these days. In the old days, there really were not many choices. Your options were limited to size
and mattress firmness first developed in the 1970s by
NASA, the memory foam matress became popular with consumers in the
1990s.
It was first introduced
on the market to people with medical conditions or bedsores. Initially, just a mattress topper was available and then the memory foam
matress came out. More companies are marketing these because it is the fastest growing mattress on the market
today. Nothing conforms to the shape of your body like one of these products. It allows people to sleep better because it reduces the
amount of pressure on the areas that bother people during sleep.
A memory
foam matress is sensitive to temperature. This means that the lower the temperature the firmer it will be. When
the mattress warms up, it becomes softer and bouncier. This causes the feeling of melting into the bed when you lay down. Since not all of the
manufacturers are the same, the temperatures for heating and cooling may be slightly different on specific mattresses. The important thing to
note is that you should try them out in the store if possible before purchasing.
A memory foam matress
has holes called memory cells, these compress while you sleep and spread the air to the adjoining cells. Thus, not all foam is created the same. Some are better quality than others are. It is safe to say that the big name brands are of a better quality,
so you know what you are paying for. However, cheaper brands are just that; cheaper. So, be careful what you
buy.
A top quality memory foam
matress can be quite costly, so if it is not in your budget then you could opt for the topper instead. The
technical term for these types of mattresses is visco elastic foam. The higher the density indicates that it is of
better quality. Despite the popularity of these mattresses, too many people are sleeping on unhealthy, uncomfortable spring
beds.
Some manufacturers claim that a memory foam mattress is good for everyone. This is not quite true, as some people just do not get
their body to fit to the mattress or the materials used may not be up to standards. The best advice for consumers is to try the mattress
out for yourself to see if it is right for you.
